10 Beauty Trends to Try This Summer
Summer is here and with a new season comes new trends. With so many trends coming and going, it can be hard to know which ones are going to be popular. That’s why we’ve come up with a list of 10 possible beauty trends for you to try this summer! Read on to find out your next style!
1. Bold Liner
Winged eyeliner is nothing new to us, but it’s time to say goodbye to the traditional cat eye look. The trend for summer 2022 is artsy, edgy, and over-the-top. Some liners have channeled the 1960’s mod mood, while others go for a more futuristic look. Don’t be afraid to try bold lines, bright colors, or cool graphics. The inspiration is endless!
2. Fluffy Brows
Gone are the days of lining and filling in your brows, here are the days of brow wax and spoolie brushes. Fluffy eyebrows require little effort, but look good with both glam makeup or minimalist looks. The best way to get that fluffy look is to apply a brow wax or gel to your natural brows by brushing them upwards to straighten them and give a fuller, feathery, look.
Though we say you don’t need to fill in your brows with a colored pencil, if your brows need a little fullness, feel free to add!
3. Y2K
Y2K, or “the year 2000” is back! Yeah, you read that right! Inspired by the mid-90s and early 2000s, these trends have become even more popular this time around. Think spiky space buns, mini braids, and lots of glitter!
Other Y2K trends for you to try include:
- Glossy lips
- Blue eyeshadow
- Grunge aesthetic
- Bejeweled hair and makeup
Whatever your personal preference, there are a lot of options when it comes to this trend.
4. Hair Accessories
Continuing with the Y2K theme, hair accessories are popular again! Barrettes, ribbons, and claw clips are all possible ways to add a little extra “something” to your hairstyle. Instead of a statement necklace or earrings, try reaching for a head scarf or butterfly clips to accessorize your next outfit.
5. Au Naturale
While bold looks for the eyes can be the way to go, a more natural look for the face stands out. People are packing away their powder blush, bronzer, and highlight for their cream or liquid counterparts. These products have the same overall effect, but leave your makeup looking more natural, and less “cakey.”
6. Glowy Skin
Imagine the glowy look you get when you’re basking in the golden hour sun. Picture your face, freshly moisturized. Think of a glazed donut sitting in a bakery. Well that’s what this trend is going for! If we want our skin to look as glowy as possible, then it’s time to lock down a solid skincare routine. This look is a result of exfoliation, cleansing, and moisturizing.
When it comes to makeup, less is more. Keep foundation and concealer to a minimum by choosing a BB cream over a high coverage product. Focus on pops of color on the lips or cheeks.
7. Sleek Hair
Pulling hair back into a low bun or high pony can give a sleek, elegant look. Once you’ve brushed it back, use gel or hairspray to slick down flyaway hairs. Add a funky clip or small braids to elevate this glossy look.
8. Funky Nails
Lucky for you, you have the option to do almost anything with your nails! The length and shape is up to you, but make sure you have a vibrant color or funky pattern to stand out in the crowd. Getting acrylic nails can be a fun change and an extra accessory to any outfit. If long nails or lots of upkeep aren’t your thing, keep your nails short but add a pop of color!
9. Extra Shaggy or Extra Blunt
Like your nails, when it comes to your hair, you have options. We see hairstyles this summer at both ends of the spectrum; either shaggy or blunt. If you go for a shag look, ask your stylist for soft layers, texturized ends, and a fringe that splits perfectly to frame your face. A blunt look is the opposite; almost no layers, cut straight across the bottom. This style looks great with a short bob or long dramatic locks.
10. All the Volume
No matter your hairstyle, volume is a must have this summer! Unless you’re going for a sleek, pulled-back pony, volume should be your best friend. This gives your hair some dimension and lift, and looks great with any style. Some of the ways to achieve this look are:
- Volumizing or texturizing sprays
- Blow drying your hair upside down
- Getting a blowout at the salon
- Washing your hair less often – use dry shampoo!
Turn up the volume this summer and add some life into your hair!
