SCHOLARSHIPS! SO MANY OF THEM!

QUEENS!!!!! We freakin’ L O V E letting y’all know about the $$$ that is out there to help you achieve your dreams, so today is extremely exciting for us. It should be exciting for you too!!! We’re talking Beauty Changes Lives again. They have scholarships running all year round, and here we are yet again to break some down for you so YOU can choose which one to apply for. We’d also suggest following @beautychangeslives on Instagram and visiting their Website every once in a while to check out new opportunities! They have a looooong list of summer scholarships that we’re gonna sum up for you. Most of their scholarships have to be used at an accredited institution. If you don’t know what that means, please visit our previous blog post regarding accreditation! Sadly, this means only TWO of these can be used for education here, at Queen Beauty Institute (don’t worry, we’ll let you know which ones). But we’re here to help YOU Queens, not us! COSMETOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS:

1. Arnold M. Miller “Find a Way” Scholarship

Apparently, this guy Arnold Miller had quite the “can do” attitude. Whatever challenge he was presented with, he always seemed to “find a way” (lol) to overcome it and succeed! What a guy. If you find yourself thinking, ‘OMG, I am ALSO very dedicated and persevere through challenges no matter what,’ this is probably the scholarship for you. Submission requirements for the scholarship include: THREE photos of your work on a mannequin or person, and a 3-minute YouTube video answering their application questions. Closes 8/31.
What you get: Up to $15,000 to put towards your Cosmetology education!

Who can apply: New AND current Cosmetology students enrolled in an ACCREDITED program.

2. Sydell & Arnold Miller Foundation “Art of Haircutting” Scholarship

It should come as no surprise that the “Art of Haircutting” scholarship is for students who absolutely LOVE to cut hair. Cosmetology offers many different subjects for students to find a passion, but a select few fall in love with cutting! If you enjoy creating your own cuts and bringing hair to life, this one’s for you. Submission requirements include: THREE photos examples of your own artistic hair cutting on mannequins or people, and a 3-minute YouTube video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31!

What you get: Up to $5,000 to put towards your Cosmetology education!

Who can apply: New AND current Cosmetology students enrolled in an ACCREDITED program.

3. Sydell & Arnold Miller Foundation “Art of Haircoloring” Scholarship

Similarly to the previous scholarship we covered, this scholarship targets those with a specific passion for hair color. Seems like they’re looking for creative students who enjoy bringing their visions to light! If you notice yourself getting extra excited about hair coloring methods & products, this scholarship might be for you. There’s a LOT you can do with color and it can be interpreted as art, so open up your creative side & get this money! The submission requirements? You guessed it: THREE photos of your artistic hair coloring work on mannequins or people, and a 3-minute YouTube video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31.

What you get: Up to $5,000 to put towards your Cosmetology education!

4. Sydell & Arnold Miller Foundation “Art of Hairdressing” Scholarship

They’re back again folks, and this time they want passionate hairdressers! This scholarship caters to those who enjoy transforming their clients with special styles. If you love styling hair for weddings, proms, or special occasions, this money is for you! The “Art of Hairdressing” pertains not only to making clients feel happy & fabulous, but being able to create and fully execute a creative style of your own! And here we are again with the submission requirements: THREE photos of your creative styles on mannequins or people, and a 3-minute YouTube video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31.

What you get: Up to $5,000 to put towards your Cosmetology education!

5. L’Oréal Professionnel Empowerment Scholarship

This scholarship is meant to reflect L’Oréal’s core values of diversity and equality in Cosmetology professions. The Professionnel Empowerment scholarship is available to anyone that identifies as a person of color and is passionate about diversity & equality. The purpose of the scholarship is to enhance diversity in the Cosmetology industry one student at a time. This year, the scholarship is dedicated to Sheena Coleman who was a beloved part of the L’Oréal Professional Team and inspired many throughout her career. Submission requirements include: a 3-minute YouTube video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31.

What you get: Up to $5,000 to put towards your Cosmetology education!

Who can apply: New AND current Cosmetology students who identify as persons of color and are enrolled in an ACCREDITED program.

ESTHETICS SCHOLARSHIPS:

1. Sydell L. Miller “Total Image” Scholarship

Sydell Miller was one of the first beauty industry professionals to really believe in focusing on Esthetics. She created a consulting program focusing on “Total Image” rather than just hair, and salon owners found success in professional Esthetics following her guide! So, naturally, this scholarship is catered to those who believe in “Total Image” beauty and have a passion for Esthetics & cosmetics. Submission requirements include: TWO before & after images of an esthetics treatment, makeup application, or eyebrow service, AND a 3-minute YouTube video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31.

What you get: Up to $7,500 to put towards your Esthetics education!

Who can apply: New AND current Esthetic students who are enrolled in an ACCREDITED program.

2. Dermalogica “New Beginnings” Scholarship

ATTENTION SUMMER QBI STUDENTS: Y’ALL CAN APPLY FOR THIS! This scholarship was founded in 1986 by Jane Wurwand, and Dermalogica is partnering with Beauty Changes Lives to fund it this year. The “New Beginnings” Scholarship was initially created to provide aspiring skin care professionals with the best possible products and education out there. Since Dermalogica is still many skin care professionals’ #1 choice, it’s only right that they fund this scholarship, and it makes sense that it must be applied to a Dermalogica Partner School. But guess what y’all!? Queen Beauty Institute is a Dermalogica Partner School!!!! So, if you want, you can use this scholarship to learn Esthetics here with us :). This scholarship is available only to those identifying as persons of color. Submission requirements only include a 3-minute YouTube video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31.

What you get: Up to $5,000 to put towards your Esthetics education AND mentorship from a Dermalogica expert skin therapist!

Who can apply: New AND current Esthetics students who identify as persons of color and are enrolled in a Dermalogica Partner School.

3. European Wax Center “Experts in Wax” Scholarship

European Wax Center loves the confidence that a great wax experience can bring to clients. Waxing specialists are in charge of making clients comfortable, maintaining cleanliness and professionalism, and providing an efficient service. If you have a passion for waxing and enjoy bringing confidence and comfort to clients, this scholarship will suit you well. Submission requirements include: TWO photos of a before & after brow service of yours, and a 3-minute YouTube video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31.
What you get: Up to $2,000 towards your Esthetic education.

NAIL TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS:

1. OPI’s “A Great Opera-Tunity” Scholarship

ATTENTION QBI SUMMER STUDENTS: Y’ALL CAN APPLY FOR THIS! OPI partnered with Beauty Changes Lives to offer scholarships to passionate Nail Technicians in training. To qualify, applicants must identify as persons of color and have an undying passion for everything NAILS! OPI is a world leader in the Professional Nail Care Industry, and they’re looking for dedicated, creative applicants to award tuition money. If you love doing nails and plan on getting your Nail Tech license, this scholarship is for you! Submission requirements include only a 3-minute video answering the application questions. Closes 8/31.

What you get: Up to $3,000 to put towards your Nail Technology education!

Who can apply: New AND current Nail Technology students who identify as persons of color.

Well Queens, that’s NINE total scholarships for you to check out this summer. Like now. You can apply to them right this second. And guess what!? There will be more in the fall! And then more in the winter! So if you’re thinking that right now is too soon, you’ll have more opportunity in the near future to apply for some pretty awesome scholarships & potentially save a lot of money on your education!
